Filler forms can be created but you will need something more than the Adobe Reader. To create PDF forms you will need Acrobat. There are different versions of Acrobat and all of them have different features.
Acrobat 8, 9 and X
With this type of acrobat, you can have interactive forms that your users will be able to fill out. If you opt to use Acrobat Pro then you can use the PDF where users will be able to fill out the form and still save it in its PDF format.
Acrobat 6 and 7
This is mostly used by companies and organizations. They use Adobe Acrobat to convert their paper forms into PDF files. These files are then readily available over the internet. Through the use of an Acrobat product, it is easier to fill a form on the screen if there are fields such as buttons, text fields etc. Some of the Acrobat products include Adobe Reader and Acrobat Standard.
Rights-enabled PDF form
This is the kind of form whereby users can comment, fill in, save and even distribute the form. Additionally, they can also add digital signatures. If you use Adobe Reader to open this kind of form, then there is a box that will appear which will show you additional features of the PDF file.
Features of Adobe Reader- printing and viewing PDF forms, search the forms and also filling in the fields in the PDF form. The situation is different if the PDF is rights-enabled. In this case you can save data locally, fill in online forms, distribute forms to other parties and include digital signatures.
Features of Acrobat Standard- PDF files can be saved in a Forms Data Format. The use of the FDF is to export forms from PDF formats. The FDF files are much smaller because they contain less information as compared to
Features of Acrobat 3D and Acrobat professional- this Acrobat combines all the features of that of the Acrobat Standard while still allowing you to make Adobe form field. For Windows systems only, there is the Acrobat professional version 6 and 7 which include Adobe Live Designer.
Adobe Acrobat also allows you fill in some IRS tax forms online. However, it is important that you take note that you cannot submit an electronic PDF form to the IRS. However you have an advantage because you can fill one out and save it.
