Labor & delivery nurses tend to love their jobs. These nurses assist with the entire delivery process. They monitor fetal heart tones, administer medication, check dilation, insert Foley catheters, and much more.

Labor and delivery nursing is truly one of the most popular areas in nursing. Nurses in this specialty rarely leave, which creates high demand for this position.

RNs (and sometimes LPNs) who work in the labor and delivery areas get to enjoy the blessing of welcoming newborn babies into the world. This is a different specialty as compared to neonatal nursing (we have a video on that as well).
