If you are a stay at home mom you have undoubtedly considering rejoining the work force as your children age. For many jobs in today’s high tech workforce a college degree is considered the price of admission to the hiring process, this degree is frequently out of reach for stay at home mothers who do not have the time or money for college. A new scholarship from President Obama may allow you to receive significant funding from the US Government.
The scholarship is called the “Pell Grant” and has recently been increased to $ 5,500 with a target group of mothers. This is because traditionally mothers have been unable to attended post-secondary classes due to a lack of time and money. Along with this scholarship money, new technology allows distance learning, or attending classes from a far distance, to be easier than ever. These two things make receiving a college degree easier than ever for a woman on the go.
The only downside to this scholarship program is that the existence of this program shows this is a great need. This means, unfortunately that not everyone that applies will be accepted, but it should not stop you from applying for other scholarships and grants. Surely, you will receive some money, or even low interest financing.
To qualify for the grant you must meet income guidelines set by the government. If you make a low wage you will not need to quit your job and can continue working while you attend classes. So if you are the sole wage earner in your family and cannot stop working to study, the grant is perfect for you. Using scholarship money to pay for your education means that you don’t have to lower your household standard of living to afford classes.
As outlined above, it has never been easier for a mother to complete a college degree.
Completing a college degree will certainly increase a mother’s earning potential and improve the quality of life for her family.
As a mother, I know how hard it is to go back to school so I did some research for you.
